Case Description
I have an issue, I have insurance, but i cannot afford the co-pay. Average for what needs to be done is about 4,000 out of pocket co-pay, per Castle Dental. I have peridontal desease but I do think its gone down some, from some good brushing, tactics I have been using, but im not sure, im not a doctor.

From the Tooth besides the left fang to the tooth to the right fang 6 teeth total are decaying due to the infection. I have one tooth that has broken up and needs to be pulled. I may have a few other teeth that need attention as listed.

I simply do not have the money to do all necassary work, and personally due to finances, would rather try and have the pulled for either dentures, a bridge or some other false-teeth that i can at least try and eat with. I have severe pain and infection from the teeth and need to get them out of my mouth.

I need to find someone that can help that has a low rate that wouldnt cost very much out of pocket, or maybee a program to help with people that have insurance but cannot afford the co-pay or some sort of help...

Please, any help would be great.. and God bless

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

You might try the dental school, it is a great option for that type of treatment. It is the University of Texas Dental Branch Houston. The fees are greatly reduced from private practice fees and the treatment is Excellent.

I am a periodontist and used to be a general restorative dentist. Good dental care will definitely be an investment.

I would be very wary of franchise dental practices. I will not name names, but they often have lower fees, but add things that you do not need - thus you end up paying for more than you need and will often not get as good of treatment as you would with a private dentist, who has a rep to consider and even good dentist at these places are pressured to sell and work quicker than they may be good at.

As far as pulling teeth and dentures, it is almost always better to save your own teeth if you can.

If one gets dentures, then supporting them with titanium dental implants is usually a better way to go.

If $$ is the largest driving force, then I suggest the UT Dental Branch, Houston, in the MD Anderson med center. I also am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the periodontics residency. All residents in any program are doctors - they have all graduated with their DDS, or DMD and are doing extra training. The dental students are college grads, who start clinic in their 3rd year, after 2 years of books, labs , intensive model work, etc. They are closely supervised and do great work. Both dental students and residents will render treatment for about 1/3 of the $$ in the private sector. If driving is a problem, there are P&R busses and the light rail. I have done it before.

Email me, if you want to pursue this option

Please call us at 713-263-8080. We, St. Nicholas Dentists, can and will help you. First of all, if you have so much cavity, you probably does NOT have gum disease because the etiological bacterias of the gum disease and the cavitites are always opposing each other. So many clinics and docs misdiagnosed due to matter of convenience, since average people cannot differentiated between a true gum disease with PROGRESSIONAL bone loss that required a deep cleaning, and a pseudo-gum disease that has NO PROGRESSIONAL bone loss and thus ONLY required a regular cleaning, no matter how much calculus or bleeding presents. Secondly, your continuous problem with decay has to be a signal of other underlying cause that we must find out and eliminate prior to the treatment. Thirdly, denture is cheap, but a GOOD denture will make your next meal much more delicious, and there is NO way you can have a good denture made from the place that gives you a WRONG diagnosis of your other problem. We WILL WARRANT our works, because we are here to help people to be diagnose and treated with utmost sincerity.
